my home department is finally offering a sessional position that i can apply for! it's a course called Cultures & Images on visual anthropology (often interchangeably used with film ethnography). you can see this and other sessional postings in my department here: http://www.sfu.ca/sociology/employment_opportuitites/sessional_positions.html (deadline is September 15th).
since i don't have an anthropology background and just have the course Advanced Theory in Anthropology under my belt, i'll need to read some key works in visual anthropology to put together a syllabus. after putting together the syllabus Women and Popular Culture for my application for a sessional position in Women's Studies, i'm very excited about the idea of teaching my own course. i can't wait! and i think this visual anthropology class may work very well for me... and i'll have the competitive edge because i'm a candidate in the department. fingers crossed...
